ETIC_Algarve is proud that its team of trainers is made up of professionals from the areas in which it trains, because it understands that it is with their technical knowledge and professional experience, but also life experience, that trainees learn and approach the Job Market.
With today’s publication we continue to make known, a little better, each of these professionals, who day after day, month after month and year after year, dedicate part of their time to doing one of the noblest activities: teaching!
Not only the technical and practical knowledge, which are fundamental for a serious training, of quality and that trains professionals of excellence; but also to enhance the capacities of each one to become better human beings.
In today’s article we present the trainer of The Sound & Music area, Lana Gasparotti, pianist, composer and who embraced the training at ETIC_Algarve approximately 3 years ago, whom we thank for having made herself available to reveal herself a little more.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Lana Gasparotti, I’m a pianist, composer and also a piano teacher and trainer at ETIC_Algarve.
How did music come into your life?
Forever. I started playing piano at the age of 5 and completed the 8th grade of the classical conservatory and later the degree in jazz piano and moderna music.
I learned this interesting concept of what “playing music” is, as in English they say “playing piano”, I began to distinguish the idea of studying music but also taking time to ‘play music’, which allowed me to explore without being afraid of making mistakes, without rules and limits and allowed me to develop from an early age a very own language.
What fascinates you about being a musician and composer?
It fascinates me in many ways — in terms of composition, because I can create something that is 100% to my liking, from me to myself first and foremost, but it ends up being for others too, and as a musician, playing my own compositions, which are made by me for me, I challenge myself to surpass myself in more complex things and to be able to convey my ideas live, but at the same time I feel in my comfort zone, I feel at home, even though I practice this on stage regardless of how many people are watching.
There is also the other side in which I am a musician (pianist/keyboardist/interpreter) of other musical projects and it is to find within another musical style my essence.
What trick do you use that has changed the way you work?
Preparation.
Preparation for me is everything. For example, if I am invited to a new project where I have to learn the songs, I take the preparation part very seriously, I spend as many hours as necessary studying, so that I arrive at the first rehearsal as if it were the concert.
It makes me feel safe, confident and professional.
What job did you enjoy doing the most?
My own album.
It has been a constant learning in all aspects, from the composition, rehearsals, first recording sessions in the studio, production and post-production, the image part, creation of digital content and social networks, music videos, the process of taking everything to the factory for the production of vinyls and CDs, communication, album release, follow up, etc.
I’m learning inside what it’s like to manage all this, to work as a team, to do things that are outside my comfort zone. This thing of being an independent artist, to get to the final result it takes many hours, headaches, investment of time and money, it is a commitment if I want to do the thing well done.
What is the added value of having you as a trainer?
I think it is my experience in general, for having already been on the road giving concerts with different projects, for having already done several artistic residencies and having experience of doing creative brainstorming, for my academic knowledge and the way to put them into practice in a more dynamic and current way.
Finally, some advice for anyone who wants to learn music?
Don’t give up. It is crucial to follow our dreams and intuition, even if they contradict the norms or expectations of others. Be true to your taste.
