ETIC_Algarve debuts at VET Skills Competition in Verona, Italy

ETIC_Algarve is participating for the first time in the VET Skills Competition in Verona, Italy! This international event, funded by Erasmus+, is a great opportunity for trainees, trainers, and staff to develop creative skills and work in multicultural teams. ETIC_Algarve is participating for the first time in the VET Skills Competition, an initiative funded by the Erasmus+ Program, which takes place between March 17 and 21 in Verona, Italy.
This event represents a great opportunity for graduates, trainers and school staff, allowing everyone involved to explore new challenges, work in international teams and develop innovative projects within their areas of expertise.

What is VET Skills Competition?
The VET Skills Competition is an annual challenge where students from creative fields – design, video, photography, multimedia, animation and others – collaborate in teams to create projects inspired by a relevant theme.
The theme of this edition: “Over-Tourism” – one of the most impactful challenges in the global tourism sector. Participants will explore creative ways of approaching this problem, applying their technical skills to develop innovative solutions.
The competition is organized by a group of European schools, and each year one of the partners takes over the organization. In 2024, the host is ENAC Verona.

Representation ETIC_Algarve
This first participation of ETIC_Algarve in this European event reflects the school’s commitment to providing enriching international experiences to its graduates, trainers and team.
The trainees representing ETIC_Algarve:
The school took four finalist graduates of the two-year technical courses, selected to represent the creativity and talent of ETIC_Algarve in this international competition:
- Isabella Santos – Film and TV Production course (23|25)
- João Rios – Music Creation, Production and Sound Techniques course (23|25)
- Nazaré André – Communication and Multimedia Design course (23|25)
- João Silva – Professional Photography course (23|25)
The team is accompanied by José Jesus, trainer of the Video area, who, together with other trainers from the different participating schools, will guide the groups throughout the week to ensure that the projects developed reach their maximum potential.
In addition, she is part of the Virginia Inácio delegation, responsible for the Department of professional integration and Erasmus+ at ETIC_Algarve, which reinforces the importance of the school’s participation in this initiative:
“ETIC_Algarve has been part of the Erasmus+ Program for 10 years, and events such as the VET Skills Competition are essential for us to provide our trainees with more opportunities to gain international experience, learn new ways of working, and develop skills that prepare them for a more competitive professional future. On March 21, Friday, the final projects will be presented and the grand winner of the VET Skills Competition 2024 will be announced.
