Short film “Choupan” selected for the 1st Portuguese Film Festival

The short film “Choupan,” made by the class of the 14|16 Technical Course in Film Production, was included in the Official Selection of Short Films at the 1st Portuguese Film Festival.

This project, one of 92 films selected for the Official Selection of the festival, out of a total of 184 submissions from across the country, will be screened on September 28, in the “Short Films” session to be held at the Alves Redol Association, in Vila Franca de Xira.

Directed by Sabrina Ildefonso and written by the Directing 14|16 class, “Choupan” tells the story of Lucas and Maria, two young people who get to know each other over time. Lucas, a charismatic and energetic young man, moves into his new apartment and encounters Maria and her cat. Attracted by the curiosity and beauty of the young Maria, he approaches her, experiencing some awkward moments until one day Lucas is surprised by a situation he never imagined could happen.

THE 1st PORTUGUESE FILM FESTIVAL

This Film Festival arose from the observation made by a group of young people from Vila Franca de Xira that “the Portuguese public is still not won over by national productions, which are still viewed with some prejudice and little recognition, as they do not fit into the canons of American commercial film production.”

So, they got down to work to develop and create “new audiences, more knowledgeable and appreciative of Portuguese cinema” in order to promote quality Portuguese films, including short and feature films of any genre, in different cultural venues around the city for eight days.
