Short film ” Sombra” with two nominations for Film Festivals in Portugal

The short film “Sombra”, produced as part of the Audiovisual Project of the Film and TV Production class 19|21, is competing among the best Portuguese short films at two Portuguese festivals: Gardunha Fest and the prestigious MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival..
“The universe of Sombra takes us into the world of horror and suspense films, with complex and mysterious characters. There are many definitions and connotations for shadow, but mainly it represents something that haunts us and that has been left behind. The essence of the short film is the weight of past actions and the strength of spirit not to let ourselves be influenced by our own shadow. This short film aims to show the result of actions dominated by fear and how a simple person can end up living in darkness because of those actions. (…) We tried to show the traumas experienced by the main character, the reality and suffering of domestic violence and its consequences”, according to the graduates who produced and directed this fictional thriller.
“Sombra” has been nominated for MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, among the 12 finalists (out of 80 candidates) competing for the best Portuguese Horror Short Film in 2021. This festival promotes the best of national and international horror. The winner will be announced at the closing of the festival (which runs from September 7 to 13 in Lisbon) and will receive the following prizes: a check for €5,000, a weekend at Belver hotels, and direct nomination for the Méliès d’Or international competition promoted by the Méliès International Festivals Federation.
This film project was also nominated in the “National Category” of Gardunha Fest – Short Film Festival, dedicated to the theme of the paranormal. This festival takes place between August 27 and 29, in Fundão. The short films in competition will be screened publicly on August 28, and the winners of the three categories will be announced on August 29.
We are excited, but above all proud of the work of our trainers and trainees who take risks and seize the opportunities we provide for the development and application of their skills throughout their training here at ETIC_Algarve – Algarve School of Innovation and Creation Technologies. Congratulations on another achievement!
