Our Trainers – Joel Reis

ETIC_Algarve is proud that its team of trainers is made up of professionals from the areas in which it trains, because it understands that it is with their technical knowledge and professional experience, but also life experience, that trainees learn and approach the Job Market.
With today’s publication we continue to make known, a little better, each of these professionals, who day after day, month after month and year after year, dedicate part of their time to doing one of the noblest activities: teaching!
Not only the technical and practical knowledge, which are fundamental for a serious training, of quality and that trains professionals of excellence; but also to enhance the capacities of each one to become better human beings.
In today’s article we present the trainer of the photography area, Joel Reis, photographer, director of photography and director, but also a trainer with many years of experience, whom we thank for having made himself available to reveal himself a little more.
Who are you and what do you do?
My Name is Joel, professionally I am a photographer, videographer and director, producer and teacher/trainer
How did photography come into your life?
I often say that I was born a photographer and surfer.
Among many other passions, these have accompanied me all my life, long before I thought about making money to pay the bills.
Still, the first time I was asked: What do you want to be when you grow up? My response was (and still is): Teacher!
What fascinates you about being a photographer?
It’s the best profession in the world, you can advance through countless areas and approaches, and it’s virtually impossible to get bored.
And from it, I unlock other equally fun ones.
What trick do you use that has changed the way you work?
The adaptation. It’s not a trick, it’s a must.
I adapt to new equipment, software, customers, market, trends… it is a survival technique that keeps my life always interesting and not monotonous.
In the last year, for example, I have changed my entire workflow, due to the new tools that AI provides.
What job did you enjoy doing the most?
The next one. Always the next one.
I’ve done nice things, but the adrenaline is in the future, and in doing different and better if possible.
What is the added value of having you as a trainer?
Self-defense is not much my style, but I think I give honest feedback to students, and although I treat them like future classmates, I share with them what they don’t see on Youtube and the Internet (which I also watch, and spend endless hours on).
Finally, any advice for those who want to learn photography?
There are no bad “models”, there are bad photographers. And to be a good photographer you don’t have to have the latest or most expensive equipment you know.
