The ability to bring an idea into the light

Trains professionals with creative and technical skills necessary for the development of the photographic production process in the differents genre of photography.

Develop creative and technical skills for the practice of photography applied to different contexts: Advertisement, Fashion, Journalism, Portrait, Nude, Events Real Estate/ A rchitecture and Post-Production

Sensitizes the usage of photography as a form of artistic expression and visual communication.

Transmits knowledge about all the photographic production process, from scheduling, to execution and printing.

1260 hours, including 480 hour Curricular Internship

After completing 2 years of this course, you are able to apply for a 3rd curricular “Top Up Year” at Prague City University, in Prague, Czech Republic; or at ETIC em Lisboa, where you can obtain an Academic Training equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree (Level 6 of the European Qualification Framework).

HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Introduction to the history of photography and the photographic process
  • The Pioneers. The primitive techniques and it’s evolution 
  • Movement, trends and tendencies
  • Photography in Portugal

PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUES

  • Components of the photographic camera
  • The shutter and the diaphragm. Relation between shutter /diaphragm. Depth of field 
  • Lenses: types and characteristics
  • The value of ISO
  • Analogue and digital, similarities and differences
  • Measuring light. Histogram
  • Notion of color temperature. White balance
  • Notion of composition and framing
  • Photographic practice

LIGHTING

  • Light and its characteristics

PHOTOGRAPHIC POST PRODUCTION I

  • Image in digital editing softwares: pixel, resolution and scale

Application Process

The applications take place between the months of March and October, until the beginning of the school year and classes, as long as there are vacancies in the courses. 

These can be done after the verification of the admission conditions, upon the payment of the registration and submitting the following documents: 

  • Curriculum vitae / Biography
  • 1 passport photo (digital or printed)
  • Certificate of habilitations 
  • Documents from the Candidate and the Responsible for the payment (National Identification Card + Taxpayer Identification Number + Proof of Address: water, electricity or telephone bills or driving license) 
  • Completing and Signing the application form and the training contract
