Pedro Andrade, a student enrolled in the Design for Communication and Multimedia (23/25) program at ETIC Algarve, has achieved second place in the Graphic Identity category of the prestigious Sophia Student Award 2024.

Inspired by his early experiences in school theatre, Andrade created a poster that delves into the intricate aspects of acting, encompassing character preparation and script interpretation. The work reflects the intensity and challenges inherent in artistic creation, presenting a visually compelling and thought-provoking message.

The Creative Process and ETIC Algarve’s Role

The practical approach to teaching at ETIC Algarve played a pivotal role in the development of this project. According to Pedro Andrade:

“My objective was to convey the complexity and dedication involved in an actor’s craft. The support provided by ETIC Algarve was essential in ensuring the message resonated effectively with the audience.”

The integration of practical methodologies and the guidance of skilled instructors enabled Andrade to translate theoretical concepts into a professional and impactful visual narrative.

Reflections from the Pedagogical Director

Nuno Ribeiro, the Pedagogical Director at ETIC Algarve, emphasized the significance of this accomplishment:

“This achievement highlights the talent of our students and underscores the institution’s commitment to providing an education that blends practice, creativity, and vision. It is a source of pride to see ETIC Algarve establish itself as a leader in communication and design education.”

A Legacy of Excellence

Pedro Andrade’s success adds to the growing legacy of ETIC Algarve in the Sophia Student Awards. Previous accolades include:

  • 2023: João Santos secured first place, and Gabriel Marques earned third place in the same category.
  • 2022: Zuzana Fol and Tiago Botelho claimed first and second places, respectively.

These accolades underscore ETIC Algarve’s dedication to fostering excellence in education, demonstrating the impact of practical and creative methodologies in preparing students for professional success.
