Biography

Nelson Costa is a Senior Games Programmer with over seven years of experience in the gaming industry. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Fernando Pessoa University and a Master's in Professional Practice in Games Development from Abertay University of Dundee, he has worked with companies such as Travellers Tales Games, Team17, and Get Set Games. Areas of expertise include gameplay programming, generalist work, optimization, and leading small teams in porting games to consoles. Teaching began in 2021 at IADE, followed by a role at ETIC in 2024. He is passionate about guiding students through complex programming topics, helping them master advanced concepts and technologies essential to game development. Focus is placed on both technical skills and problem-solving, allowing students to grow into well-rounded developers. By fostering a hands-on learning environment, he supports students in their journey to becoming proficient in various technologies and preparing them for the challenges of the industry. Outside of teaching, Symbiotic Vanguard, a game development company he founded, is dedicated to creating innovative gaming experiences.
