How to direct a story from beginning to end
Develops technical and creative skills for creation of audiovisual contents for the video, cinema and television industries.
Transmits knowledge about camera operation, lighting and sound, as well as the fundamental training to integrate in any phase of the development of an audiovisual project: directing, pre-production, production, post-production and editing.
Promotes research, analysis and the practice of themes inherent to the creation of audiovisual contents.
Develops professional skills necessary for the integration in the audiovisual world and context.

By concluding this training, you will have the possibility to participate in our European Mobility Project ERASMUS+.

After completing 2 years of this course, you are able to apply for a 3rd curricular “Top Up Year” at Prague City University, in Prague, Czech Republic; or at ETIC in Lisbon, where you can obtain an Academic Training equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree (Level 6 of the European Qualification Framework).

Course Content
INTRODUCTION TO CINEMA
- Introduction the cinematographic analysis, history and aesthetics
AUDIOVISUAL LANGUAGE
- Analysis and understanding of the composition of shots, the relationship between narrative and plastic elements. Audiovisual grammar
- Introduction to the development process of an audiovisual project: typologies, stages and types of team
- Development of base documents for organizing an audiovisual project.
CAMERA AND LIGHTING
- Anatomy of a camera
- Introduction to capturing and lighting material, respective rules and handling precautions
- Practice of technical recording of images
- Practice of lighting and creation of environments;
SCREENPLAY, SCRIPT AND STORYBOARD
- Strategies for encoding and transposing an argument into a script and from this to a sequence of shots
- Fundamentals of Visual Storytelling
- Construction of a planning and structuring of the respective Storyboard.
SCRIPT SUPERVISION AND CONTINUITY
- Concepts, methods and rules applied to script supervision
- Manipulation of narrative, emotional and sound continuity
ACTORS DIRECTION
- Analysis and understanding of the main currents and schools of representation and interpretation
- Representation techniques, directing actors, casting and rehearsals with actors
- Relationship between director, actors and shooting team
- Importance of mise en scène for film and acting
PRODUCTION
- Processes, methodology and production typologies
- Budgets and financing
- Laws and jurisdictions applied to the field of cinema, television and audiovisual
SOUND RECORDING AND EDITING TECHNIQUES
- Introduction to sound material and respective handling rules
- Importance of direct sound and the relationship between sound and image
- Direct sound recording, pre-mixing and sound mixing techniques
- Foley and rear sound capture

Application Process
The applications take place between the months of March and October, until the beginning of the school year and classes, as long as there are vacancies in the courses.
These can be done after the verification of the admission conditions, upon the payment of the registration and submitting the following documents:
- Curriculum vitae / Biography
- 1 passport photo (digital or printed)
- Certificate of habilitations
- Documents from the Candidate and the Responsible for the payment (National Identification Card + Taxpayer Identification Number + Proof of Address: water, electricity or telephone bills or driving license)
