The art and technique behind what is heard

Trains professionals for the manipulation of sound and it’s equipment.

Develops skills as a technical artistic collaborator in activities related to sound.

Transmit knowledge about sound recording, post production and mastering for the creative industries.

Promotes the technical knowledge of the equipment and stimulates innovative creativity in the sound context.

Learn from trainers who are active in the musical scene, the musical tools to transform your ideas into music on a professional level.

During the course you have access to recording/production studios, audio post production and mastering rooms, and live stage concerts, in partnership with Box Music Store.

By concluding this training, you will have the possibility of participating in our European Mobility Project ERASMUS+.

Course Content

HISTORY OF SOUND RECORDING 

  • The history of sound recording from the beginning of the analog until the present day 
  • The process of analog, digital and laser recording

ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRONICS

  • Introduction to the fundamental concepts of electricity: Ohm’s law and the power equation

HEARING TRAINING

  • Learn to listen - auditory training for a perfect capture
  • Human ear

DIGITAL AUDIO

  • Numeric Systems used in digital electronics
  • Digital Audio in terms of frequency and amplitude
  • Audio convertors 

STUDIO TECHNIQUES

  • Sound and Music capture and recording: Principles of microphone functionality 
  • Stereo capture techniques
  • Multiple instrument capture techniques

EDITING, PROCESSING AND MIXING

  • From the sound mixing session, final mixing and to mastering. 
  • Using plugins, virtual tools associated to the actual musical production technologies

SOUND FOR IMAGE

  • Sound for film, video and multimedia 
  • Live sound, reference sound and post produced Bruitage or Foley, dubbing and ADR
  • Sound directed for the audiovisual language

APPLIED ARCHITECTURAL ACOUSTICS (ELECTROACOUSTICS)

  • Analysis and correction of specific environments for sound capture
  • Calculate reverberation time
  • Identify stationary waves and resonance in an acoustic space 

AUDIO MASTERING

  • Digital Mastering
  • Fundamentals, concepts and practice
  • Files and protocols, editing and mastering
  • Processors in the mastering context
  • Formats and preparation procedures for duplication and/or distribution

LIVE SOUND

  • Learn the necessary techniques for setting up and operating a live a event - PA set up
  • Stages and regies: theaters, auditoriums, outdoor stages and regies

INTERNSHIP

  • Possibility to apply for a 320h Internship for the trainees who fulfill the requirements for JUMP – Professional Integration Support

The applications take place between the months of June and October, until the beginning of the school year and classes, as long as there are vacancies in the courses. 

These can be done after the verification of the admission conditions, upon the payment of the registration and submitting the following documents: 

  • Curriculum vitae / Biography
  • 1 passport photo (digital or printed)
  • Certificate of habilitations 
  • Documents from the Candidate and the Responsible for the payment (National Identification Card + Taxpayer Identification Number + Proof of Address: water, electricity or telephone bills or driving license) 
  • Completing and Signing the application form and the training contract.
